Personal Project (Excerpt)
I visit Joshua Tree often, and on several nights, I noticed a lone cowboy sitting by a bonfire in the desert outskirts.
He wasn’t homeless; just an old-school cowboy, embodying a fading way of life. We spent the night by the fire as he shared stories of the past, and he eventually agreed to let me take his portrait. He told me he’d been coming to the same spot for years, just to sit and think.
The way he carried himself told you he’d seen some things — and not the kind you brag about...
